Step back in time at stateside style bar and restaurant Americano, which aims to bring the many eras of bygone America to life. This trendy hangout places just as much emphasis on the drinks as it does the food, paying serious attention to its cocktail list and the art of mixology. As such, guests are invited to experience a night of elegance, extravagance and revelry at this retro restaurant, which is located within Dubai's shopping arcade Souk Madinat Jumeirah.
The interiors are inspired largely by a prohibition era speakeasy, with a mix of brass and leather materials used in abundance, shell banquet seating, mosaic flooring and black and white photography on the walls. A beautiful brass bar stands proudly in the centre, where expert bartenders mix up their signature creations all night long.
The eclectic menu features dishes from across the globe, albeit with a definite lean towards American classics. To start, there’s things like sriracha chicken wings with yuzu aioli, truffle snow fries with slow cooked eggs, grana Padano and truffle, and hangover benedict featuring wagyu beef cheek and bergamot hollandaise. Main courses tend to be of the meatier kind and include a selection of steaks from the robata grill. Elsewhere, burgers, pizzas and other indulgent dishes (think southern fried chicken with lemon garlic sauce) are sure to soothe and satisfy. On the sweet front, a small but mighty selection includes a red velvet fondant and a pecan pie cheesecake.
Now for the drinks! The cocktail list is split between contemporary classics and ‘The Unforgettables’, so named for the lasting impression they leave on the guest. Examples include one called There’s Something About Mary which features vodka, tomato, celery and spices, and The Godfather which is heavy on Amaretto. You can also order moonshine shots, premium spirits and a selection of wines, if preferred.
