Neon lights and brightly coloured furniture give this new branch of Aprons & Hammers a laid-back American diner style vibe which makes it a fun venue for large gatherings of family and friends. As with the popular Beach JBR site, the restaurant is located next to the sea – offering guests great views of the ocean while they tuck into a fresh selection of fish and seafood. True to form, the restaurant will provide diners with an apron and hammer for a messy and interactive experience that will get all the table immersed in the preparation of the restaurant’s signature shellfish buckets.
Starters from the extensive menu include some of their classic shellfish dishes – the Ragin’ Hot Shrimps are notoriously fiery and come served with a cheese dip – or for something simpler the steamed black pepper clams are a great way to ease you into the mood for seafood. The salads are a lovely fresh lunch option- we love the sound of the shrimp and pomelo salad which incorporates mango, pomelo and starfruit with a spicy Thai dressing.
From the selection of mains we suggest sticking to seafood (although many meat and veggie options are also available). Look out for Dock of the Bay Cioppino – a traditional dish made from the catch of the day - which is usually a combination of crab, shrimp, calamari, mussels and fish - and a fresh tomato sauce with steamed rice or barley. Another highlight is the traditional lobster thermidor which is decadently topped and served with fried and grilled vegetables.
To cleanse the palette there’s a good selection of refreshing sorbets and ice creams to choose from but for something more decadent Bye Bye American Apple Pie is a trusted family recipe and the chocolate fondant promises to be an unforgettable experience!
