Berenjak Dubai is a Persian and Middle Eastern restaurant in Dar Wasl Mall, the first Dubai restaurant from highly regarded London restaurant group JKS. Berenjak Dubai joins two extremely successful Berenjak outposts in London, and is the group’s second international restaurant opening, after Gymkhana Riyadh.
The interiors follow a similar style as Berenjak Borough in London, mirroring the cosiness and palatial opulence of a Persian townhouse. Polished timber furniture meets exquisite vintage Persian rugs, patterned tiles, chandeliers and luxurious soft furnishings. An open kitchen features a roaring open fire grill at its centre, which provides heat and smoke for the rows and rows of kebabs and flatbreads that are shuttled out of the kitchen to hungry diners.
The menu features a wide variety of hit dishes from Berenjak’s London restaurants, as well as some new exclusives for Dubai. A typical Berenjak feast starts with a range of flatbreads alongside mezze-style dips and bites. Berenjak’s taftoon is the signature - a clay-baked sourdough seeded flatbread, but the menu also includes a sesame seed flatbread and a whole wheat flatbread baked on hot pebbles. Berenjak’s hummus is much-loved, as is the coal-cooked aubergine with garlic, tomato and egg.
Kebabs come straight from the grill and include the likes of chicken breast marinated in saffron, lemon, yoghurt and tomato, grilled lamb chops with dried lime, and barbecue prawns with Kashmiri chilli and roasted garlic. Berenjak Dubai also serves rotisserie items, including chicken, lamb shoulder and lamb fillet kebab, alongside salad and tahdig.
Among the desserts you’ll find sweets like baklava and milk ice cream and creme caramel, and there are some signature soft drinks available too, like a seasonal iced tea and black lime sharbat.
