Situated on the 12th floor of Aloft Abu Dhabi, Brick Rooftop Kitchen and Bar is the spot to try out a fun and ‘unpretentious’ (their words not ours!) yet ‘sophisticated’ meal. Though situated at a height, with beautiful views to show for it, the restaurant is cosy and rustic, with earthy toned décor, twisting green vines and leaves overhead, and of course red-brick features throughout.
Speaking of brick, every dish served is made in one of its two brick ovens (named Henry and Henrietta) - hence the restaurant’s name. Henry works at a whopping 800 degrees, and Henrietta at a softer 600. Both ovens work together to provide diners with a menu of classic comforts, often with a fun twist.
To start, opt for one of the many versions of sourdough bread on offer: with caramelised onion butter, extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar, or warm baked camembert. When it comes to your main, you can go for an impressive sharing platter, including a mixed grill platter of chicken tawook, lamb chops, beef kofta, tiger prawns, and beef kebab, accompanied by roasted vegetables and hummus dip. If you’re not in the mood for sharing, that’s not to worry – Brick Kitchen offers the likes of pizza, chicken wings, or braised beef, with mouth-watering sides including potato wedges with a truffle oil drizzle, and corn on the cob with siracha mayo and Parmesan.
A short but sweet dessert menu offers the chance to round off with an apple peach crumble, or for the more sweet-toothed: chocolate fudge brownies, or s'mores.
A standout feature at Brick Rooftop Kitchen and Bar is its additional vegan menu, with a strong and enticing selection of plant-based options, including a katsu burger, pizza, or chilli cheese baked sweet potato. There's even a vegan desserts selection.
Look out especially for Brick’s ‘skylit brunch’, which is offered on Fridays 7-10pm with a promise of beautiful views and a reduced but equally tempting menu.
