As the name suggests, Brothaus Bistro and Bakery is a German-inspired eatery, aiming to bring a little Bavarian charm to Dubai. You’ll find it on the ground floor of Pullman Dubai Downtown, a five-star hotel in the Business Bay District which looks out to the water and Dubai’s glittering skyline. Its cosmopolitan location, however, is a far cry from the ambience of the restaurant which aims to feel homely, cosy and deliver an authentically German experience.
One of Brothaus’ most talked about selling points is its freshly baked bread, so breakfast looks to be a good time to try this place out. There’s a lot of choice with three different breakfast menus – the healthy section offers dishes like granola with berries and nuts, or ‘Mom’s porridge’ with maple bananas. The ‘hello sunshine’ section is all about classics such as a full English (complete with hash browns, confit tomatoes and baked beans), breakfast royale with poached eggs and smoked duck on an English muffin, and omelettes with whatever toppings you’d like. If you fancy something sweet, dine out on the old fashion crepes with cinnamon, brown sugar and raspberries or French toast with caramelised bananas and chocolate mousse.
While breakfast is a speciality, the restaurant is open late, so there’s plenty of time to take advantage of the rest of the menu. Of course, there are appetisers, salads, sharing dishes ad crowd-pleasing mains like prawn linguine and baby chicken, but it’s the German Classics that we think you’ll be most excited about. Feast on currywurst, veal schnitzel, flammkuchen and pretzels with sweet mustard for an authentic German experience.
Come evening, indulge in a cocktail or two, and choose from the classics on offer such as cosmopolitans, margaritas or a Tom Collins. There are also beers, spirits and a wine list, with a Champagne option if you should so desire.
