Beach clubs in the UAE are ten a penny, but finding a good one can be like striking gold. Drift at The Intercontinental offers up a relaxed setting to soak up the sun and enjoy some family fun.
The team here welcome children, and guests and non-guests are invited to dine, so you can always be sure of a warm welcome wherever you’re staying, or whoever you turn up with (even if it’s the whole gang). To add a little theatre to the cool and calm surrounds Drift has three open fire pits along the beachside which make for a great spot to sit beside, and watch the sun go down from. Planted with soft green grasses around the bold white boxy structure of the main restaurant, this is a modern interpretation of the classic beach bar and is ideal if you fancy wiling away the day sunbathing, sipping and snacking.
The menu has a grill focus, with an international slant offering up plates from all over the world. With options that everyone should be happy to tuck into, the kitchen team here have thought of dishes to suit all diners. Treat yourself to a light lunch by way of a Thai chicken larb salad, or go for something heartier with one of the beach club’s many pizza, burger or sandwich options, which includes a lobster club that is served with avocado and salsa verde. Each plate comes beautifully presented, and at dinner time things are stepped up a gear with a more formal menu. Here you might enjoy the likes of sea bass cevice, bloody Mary oysters or pan seared jumbo scallops.
If you’re just stopping by for drinks and snacks then you’ll be able to indulge in a lineup of beers, wines, softs and cocktails while nibbling on small plates.
