Situated on the waterfront, Loca at The Galleria is an informal Mexican restaurant and bar where guests can watch sport, live music or just socialise with friends whilst enjoying some authentic Mexican fare from Loca’s Mexican chef. The interiors are contemporary and industrial in their style. Coloured lights, chunky wooden tables and vibrant wall designs all add to the venue’s relaxed and informal ambience. Outside a large leafy terrace is an appealing spot to dine or drink whilst you watch the world go by. Look out for the exclusive tap tables inside, designed by Heinekan with beer drinkers in mind. The signature installations enable guests to pour their own chilled pints from the comfort of their seat.
The menu offers traditional dishes from Mexico many of which guests will already be familiar with and some which are less known. From the antojitos (appetisers) look out for the Flautas- lightly fried tortillas filled with either slow roasted lamb, chicken and Monterey or Kingfish and crab with a piquant pimento dip.
Mains include a selection of quesadillas, fajitas, enchiladas and burritos with a variety of fillings and toppings. From the tacos al pastor expect the likes of grilled beef tenderloin with poblano raja and melted cheese or spiced grilled Kingfish with chipotle mayonnaise.
Don’t miss the Mexicanos tradicionales – a selection of signature dishes that includes pollo en mole; grilled corn fed chicken with Loca mole served on buttered spinach and zucchini; and tamales de carne – a corn masa with pulled roast beef, Chilorio sauce and poblano peppers.
If you’ve still got room for more the desserts list comprises a decadent banana empanada with sweet cream, cinnamon sugar and ice cream; a chocolate sponge marinated in Patron café served with ice cream; and caramelized bananas flambéed with tequila and topped with vanilla ice cream.
