Housed in the Amwaj Rotana, one of Dubai Marina’s premier gastronomic destinations, Rosso restaurant has gained a reputation for its authentic Italian cuisine, casual atmosphere and welcoming staff. The red walls of the modern interiors are adorned with contemporary art and the space has a romantic and cosy feel. Outside a large terrace dotted with palm trees makes for a relaxed and scenic spot to enjoy a light lunch al fresco or a cocktail at sunset.
Alongside an extensive wine list, Rosso’s drinks menu includes a selection of classic Italian cocktails including an Aperol Sour, Limonata and White Negroni. A number of non-alcoholic options are also available including a Basil Blush – a fruity blend of strawberries, basil, lime, honey water and orange.
From the menu start with seared scallops with saffron sauce and beetroot chips or beef carpaccio with mesclun, pine nuts, porcini and parmesan before moving on to a primi pasta dish such as pumpkin ravioli with amaretto crumble and sage or pappardelle with a rich pulled lamb ragu. In traditional Italian style follow this with a meat or fish dish for secondi ; oven baked sea bass accompanied with potatoes, cherry tomatoes and olives; lamb rack with a pistachio crumb, smoked eggplant and sautéed spinach; or 8oz grilled angus beef tenderloin with brioche, foie gras and truffle mash. Alternatively choose one of Rosso’s signature pizzas straight from the wood oven or for something lighter go for a soup, salad or build a bespoke board of cured meat and cheeses served with olives, fruit compote and pickles.
Those with a sweet tooth will be delighted by the range of traditional and contemporary Italian desserts on offer. Choices include a classic Tiramisu, a chocolate lava cake with ice cream or a deconstructed strawberry cheesecake with marshmallows, compote and sorbet. Or perhaps a dessert cocktail is more appealing? We love the sound of the Cremoso – an exotic blend of vodka, frangelico, Malibu and coconut cream.
