Perhaps not a restaurant to bring your vegetarian out of towners to, Ruby markets itself as one of the best steak and kebab restaurants in Dubai. Made all the more easy to believe when the menu is based almost entirely around meat. Whilst located at the heart of Dubai’s buzzing Al Wasl Road, this still manages to be an escape from the madness, to give guests a laid-back dining experience. The name is inspired by the meat itself, taking from the fact that each cut is rare, red and remarkable, much like the gemstone. Passion runs through Ruby, from the love and respect for each dish sent out of the kitchen, to the inspiration from family, culture and roots.
The interior gives the first indication that this is a fuss free restaurant, with diner style tables and chairs, and one long sofa along the back of the room. Long windows flood the room with light during the day and allow you to marvel at Dubai’s city lights during the evening.
The menu is vast, with different subsections depending on what meat you’re in the mood for. Whilst steaks and kebabs remain the star of the show, there are also some Ruby specials which prove hard to miss. Designed to share, you can expect dishes such as rack of lamb, slow roasted beef, and testi kebab which is a Turkish stew cooked with vegetables in a clay pot. Also open for breakfast, you can start your day with a choice of over 16 authentic dishes including a cheese plate, Borek, and a fume meat plate. If you’re looking for a cosier setting at home, Ruby also doubles up as a butcher shop, meaning you can pick your preferred cut of meat and cook it from the comfort of your own kitchen.
