Sonara Camp is a restaurant and entertainment spot outside of Dubai’s main city limits in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. This remarkable conservation area is home to an incredible range of unique flora and fauna, and works to preserve the natural landscape of the area as well as operating as a sanctuary for native oryxes and gazelles.
Here you’ll find not just Sonara Camp, but also other offshoots of Nara - an eco-friendly desert camp experience set up by founder Stephanie Reichenbach. The main restaurant is found at Sonara Camp, but the complex also includes private hire ‘nests’ for overnight stays, as well as the Nara Desert Escape - a camp that hosts a huge range of entertainment and wellness activities.
The fairy-lit Sonara Camp offers a range of different experiences, from simple sunset and dinner under the stars, to a full exploration experience with private chauffeur, safari, activities and even a fire show to finish the evening. A number of overnight pods are also available for those who want to sleep in the dunes and return to the city the next day.
The camp boasts a fully-fledged kitchen that serves a huge range of different cuisine types - Sonora Camp regularly hosts private events, so the kitchen is expert at devising menus on the fly to sort all sorts of different occasions. You can specify and dietary requirements and menu preferences when you book, but the menu can include anything from canapes like wonton peking duck, buckwheat blinis with smoked salmon, and margherita pizzetas, to herb crusted lamb racks, seasonal vegetable risotto, chicken caesar salad and tropical coconut ceviche.
Sonora Camp is especially popular with visitors who want to enjoy a sand dune sunset with a drink, and the beverage menu is packed full of options, including a range of signature cocktails that includes the Desert Flower (tequila, honey, basil, raspberry and pineapple) and the Sunset Lover (vodka, St Germaine, prosecco and cucumber).
