Sticky Rice is a family-run Thai restaurant in Jumeriah Village, a favourite among locals and tourists alike for bringing a taste of Thailand to Dubai. The kitchen team is made up entirely of Thai chefs, serving 'bona fide' Thai cuisine, made with local ingredients as much as possible. There are mainly traditional dishes on the menu at Sticky Rice, although there are some updated takes on the classics also on offer.
Starters on the menu include sticky tamarind chicken wings, fried chicken dumplings and prawn crackers. The main meals all have a choice of spice level and protein, so your meal is customisable to suit your needs and desires. For example, choose from chicken, vegetables, prawns, beef or seafood to enjoy with your Khao Pad, and decide if you want it mild, medium or spicy. Other dishes on offer include a classic Thai green curry, marinated chicken skewers with sticky rice, and spicy and sour coconut soup with chicken.
The restaurant also has a dedicated vegan menu, so is a great choice if you're looking for vegan Thai fare. Dishes include vegetable fried rice, papaya salad and coconut soup with mushrooms. The main menu also has plenty of vegetarian options.
Desserts include sticky mango rice, hand rolled sticky rice and sweet potato balls boiled in sweet coconut milk, and homemade vegan Thai coconut soft serve ice cream, a favourite among diners. Drinks served include a range of Thai iced teas and their house bubble tea, served with sweet coconut milk.
The restaurant is small with quite limited seating, but it's definitely worth the wait. Sticky Rice is a relaxed setting in which to enjoy comforting Thai classics, with something on offer for everyone.
