Sultan Saray is a contemporary Turkish restaurant in Dubai’s Umm Al Sheif district, recognisable for its blushing pink interiors as well as a typical Turkish menu that blends traditional flavours with more modern techniques. Sultan Saray also has a sister site in Ajman.
The interiors are extremely photogenic, popular with the Instagram crown thanks to a combination of dusty pink walls, bubble chandeliers and blossoming plants that climb over the walls. Seating is a mixture of comfy armchairs and plush leather sofas, whilst colourful artwork and hand-painted crockery adds some old-world charm.
The menu is extensive, offering a huge range of authentic Turkish dishes from morning until night. Breakfast starts with simit, fried halloumi, filled pides, and eggs in various forms, all washed down with Turkish coffee and a range of teas. If you’re visiting for lunch or dinner, Sultan Saray has a dizzying array of choices, from hot and cold mezze classics like borek, kibbe, hummus, muhamara and mutabal, to fakharat casseroles, doner and iskandar kebabs.
That’s before you get to the main event - grilled lamb chops, lamb shish, beyti kebab, izgara chicken and more, that all comes charred and smoking from the charcoal grill. Throw in a handful of ‘Sultan’ sharing platters and house specials and there really is something for everyone on the menu here.
Desserts are equally traditional - baklava and dolma feature heavily and are available in various forms with or without ice cream, and there are other sweets too, including cheese or pistachio kunafa, katmer with honey, and a Lotus cheesecake.
Sultan Saray also specialises in fresh juices made from a variety of fruits and vegetables, and there’s a dedicated shisha menu available too.
