Housed in the four-star Capital Centre Arjaan hotel by Rotana, Tamarind is one of two dining experiences available to guests and visitors alike. Open all day the restaurant serves an international breakfast buffet and an a la carte menu for lunch and dinner inspired by locations across the globe and served in their trendy indoor and outdoor seating spaces.
Starters are largely inspired by flavours of the Middle East – Falafel with harissa hummus and Arabic bread, Halloumi fries with a yoghurt, herb dip and molasses sauce, and Kibbeh with cracked wheat, lamb and pine nuts. Mains are more substantial and have a European tilt. Diners can choose from a selection of pizzas and pastas with ‘make your own’ options available to suit all appetites. Battered fish and chips with mushy peas and tartar sauce is a nod to the UK whilst the Grill offers up a variety of lamb-based dishes served with French fries and salad. For those looking for something quick the Bowls and Boards are provide great wholesome options for a speedy stop-by. The house “chicken club” toasted sandwich is a protein powerhouse filled with chicken, turkey bacon, egg, cheddar cheese, tomato and mayo, but for something more virtuous look for the berry, avocado, quinoa and kale salad topped with almonds and feta cheese and finished with a citrusy olive oil dressing. Desserts are made fresh and the pastry chef will always have a daily selection of goods proudly displayed in the vitrine. Signatures include some real crowd pleasers like a strawberry cheesecake served with a vanilla sauce and double chocolate cake with salted caramel cream cheese.
To drink, the mocktails list offers some refreshing options like a rose lemonade or freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juice but if you’re after something more indulgent we’re sure the list of milk shakes will hit the spot.
