The Palm Hotel in Dubai is famous around the world for its fear-inducing waterslide and bedroom suites complete with floor-to-ceiling fish tanks, but there is more to this five-star hotel than its Instagrammable interiors.
The hotel is also known for its clutch of attractive, high-end restaurants, which Ba Restaurant & Lounge is just one of (the ‘Ba’ stands for ‘boldly Asian’). Found on the upper ground floor level, the decadent dining room here sees a ceiling complete with a stunning swirl effect, as well as cosy tub chairs and a metallic colour scheme of golds and silvers.
Ba Restaurant & Lounge is a pan-Asian restaurant, with a wide-ranging menu that incorporates dishes from China, Japan, Taiwan and Korea to name just a few. Signature dishes include crispy duck and kimchi steamed bao buns and an Asian-style take on chicken wings, but there is plenty to choose from on the à la carte.
Kick off your meal with portions of Ba’s sushi rolls. You will find all of the classic varieties here such as spicy tuna rolls and California rolls, as well as some more novel takes, including the Dynamite Scallop Roll: prawn katsu, Hokkaido scallop, cream cheese, cucumber and a fiery ‘dynamite’ sauce.
Next up, move on to the selection of small plates, with options to choose from including Korean fried chicken, hoisin duck spring rolls, Wagyu beef tartare with yuzu and togarashi, and king crab tacos slicked with a spicy mayonnaise. The large plates include the likes of sweet and sour chicken with pineapple, honey-baked cod with pickled ginger, and roasted Atlantic lobster with miso butter, while you can pad out your dinner with sides such as egg fried rice and stir-fried vegetables.
To finish up, tuck into Asian-inspired desserts including yuzu citrus tart and rice pudding with bananas and mango.
