A celeb favourite in L.A, it comes as no surprise that the arrival of Boa steakhouse to the glamorous Eastern Mangroves Promenade in Abu Dhabi was welcomed with much excitement and the restaurant has fast become one of the most popular restaurants in the city. The venue which claims to have superseded ‘stuffy steakhouses of the past’ is certainly the epitome of contemporary chic – with its discreet circular booth seating, modern art installations and strip lighting. The fawn and cream colour scheme lends to the unmistakeably cool atmosphere oozing Hollywood glamour.
As you would expect the menu centres around a broad selection of steaks, from the finest breeds of beef known to man. Guests can choose from various cuts of Blackmore wagyu, US prime and dry aged Black Angus, John Stone Irish Angus and Australian MB 7 AAA wagyu. The selection of sides is equally decadent with the likes of crab gnocchi, truffle cheese fries and dauphinoise potato; whilst the list of sauces is more traditional. In case that wasn’t enough other potential ad-ons include foie gras, lobster tail and jumbo prawns as well as the option to select a specific rub and crust for your chosen steak.
To start the meal Boa offers an assortment of hot and cold “appeteasers”. For something light there’s a tuna tartare garnished with olive oil, Maldon salt, quinoa crisp, red radish, sour cream, chervil, avocado puree, and an aji amarillo sauce or pan-seared Hokkaido scallops served with a green pea purée, sautéed peas, bacon duck crisp and thyme foam. Elsewhere those opposed to steak won’t be disappointed with the other entrees on offer - salt bush lamb rack with green beans, confit tomato and roasted purple potatoes; black cod with a tomato and seafood pot-au-feu; and their speciality smoked short ribs with BBQ sauce, salad and corn on the cob.
