Housed in the chic, corporate Emirates Financial Towers, Crab Market is a restaurant where diners can choose their seafood - just like a real market. Peruse piles of fresh fish, crab, lobster and more before it is prepared into elegant dishes by the expert chefs. The restaurant is on the 15th floor of the tower, making for some excellent views of the iconic Dubai skyline. There is plenty of choice in the food, from cold dishes like oysters and carpaccio to hotter ones like chowder or seafood tom yum. The menu even has a map to show you where each element of the meal came from.
A meal at a place like Crab Market has to start with oysters. There are six types to choose from: Fine de Claire, Gigas, Porthilly, Tsarskaya, Gillardeau and Tarbourieche, priced individually. Elsewhere at the raw bar, you'll find carpaccio and tartare of langoustine, tuna and others. The main event, however, is of course the crab and lobster. In increasing order of size, Crab Market offers soft shell, lobster, brown and kamchatka. The kamchatka crab can grow to nearly two metres across and is also known as the red king crab. Smaller fare include scallops, prawns and langoustines. Each can be served steamed or grilled and served with a choice of sauce (white pepper and ginger, black pepper and oyster, champagne and garlic chilli).
Other mains include black cod with smashed potatoes and pumpkin gnocchi, ravioli with burrata and black truffle and grilled octopus with potatoes and romesco sauce. There is a short list of desserts such as mango panna cotta, as well as ice cream and sorbet such as camel milk, mango yuzu and chocolate. There are separate menus for brunch, happy hour and business lunch, offering a set menu of one, two or four courses.
