The Palazzo Versace Dubai is home to several restaurants, including smart Italian Vanitas, lounge restaurant Mosaico and the La Vita bar, but Enigma is arguably the most exciting of them all. Under the direction of executive chef Mansour Memarian, who boasts two Michelin stars, Enigma’s food offering has been christened a ‘Taste of Persia’, with the vast array of dishes taking their inspiration from the chef’s Iranian origins.
The menu begins with a selection of starters such as charcoal grilled aubergine with fresh tomatoes, roasted onion and garlic, or minced beef and potatoes that have been scented with saffron. Enigma’s main draw is its stellar selection of Persian kebabs and stews, with options including braised lamb shank with fava beans and dill rice, as well as beef tenderloin marinated with yoghurt or chicken cubes enriched with saffron.
Desserts also stick to Arabic tradition, with sweet options that are available to try including baklava and saffron ice cream. There are a few modern sweets too though, such as orange blossom tart topped with homemade cotton candy.
Every Friday, Enigma hosts a lunch which is designed for guests to enjoy following Friday prayers. It is looked upon as an opportunity for families to gather together and enjoy each other’s company. You can also head to Enigma for a pre-show dinner, before you head to the Palazzo’s Q’s Bar & Lounge to enjoy an evening of live entertainment.
Enigma is open Monday to Saturday and serves lunch from midday until 3pm, followed by dinner between the hours of 7pm and 11pm. Guests are asked to abide by the smart elegant dress code, although traditional local attire is of course also allowed. Fancy dining alfresco? Enigma boasts an outdoor dining space that benefits from beautiful views of the hotel’s main pool and Dubai Creek.
