Dubai seems to be spoilt for choice when it comes to rooms with a view, but few do it quite like Skyview Lounge at Jumeirah. With a mixture of sea views that are unbeaten for daytime and at sunset, as well as city views that come into their own during the evening as Dubai lights up and comes to life, it’s impressive no matter when you decide to visit. Floor to ceiling windows span along the edge of the restaurant and bar, so guests are spoiled for an impressive backdrop no matter where they decide to take a seat. Sat 200 metres above sea level, it’s no wonder that the lounge offers such a breathtaking experience.
The drinks list is extensive, and is an insight into the level of expertise surrounding the cocktails created here. You can expect all of the classics like aperol spritz, negroni, old fashioned, amaretto sour and a French 75, as well as the likes of the lesser known options such as the ‘zombie’ with ingredients which include rum, lime, grapefruit, passionfruit, absinthe and cinnamon. Of course, it wouldn’t be a swanky cocktail bar without its own list of signature options. So expect various flavours of martinis, such as cucumber, passionfruit and litchi. If you’re looking to lay off the booze, there’s also an impressive list of mocktails such as the ‘printemps’ with spring berry cordial, cranberry, orange blossom, peach puree and lemon, or the ‘mediterraneo’ that combines fresh cucumber, apple juice, mediterranean olive and lime.
To help soak up all of the drinks, there is a selection of savoury dishes that have been chosen by the hotels Michelin-Starred chef Saverio Sbaragli to accompany the cocktails. Think truffle gougeres, Ragu arancini, and Pissaladiere, each giving a big burst of flavour in each small mouthful.
