‘Born and bread’ in Dubai, Rise and Dawn Bakehouse (the team behind Tom & Serg, Common Grounds and The Sum of Us) offers an impressive selection of sweet and savoury treats for the city. Set in a minimalist setting that lets the breads and pastries speak for themselves. The space is industrial, giving off an old Warehouse vibe, but with more personality. Each morning, the pastry chefs prepare the baked goods, using only the highest quality ingredients, and paying close attention to detail to make the products shine. The team here take pride in their craft, ensuring that good flavour is paramount, but also able to have a bit of fun.
Expect options like a seasonal danish, coconut coated lamington and jam donuts. Also, there are plenty of cookies to choose from like oat and pistachio cookies, or flourless dark chocolate cookies that have a crisp and flaky exterior, but a soft and melt in the mouth middle. For other pastries and cakes you can also find croissants and banana bread. Not forgetting the artisan sourdough, you can choose from seeded whole-wheat sourdough, 75% hydration, baguettes and ciabattas.
There may only be a small selection of croissants to choose from, with butter, almond, cheese and a pain au chocolat, but each flavour is done well.
The savoury options are just as impressive as the sweet here, including an option to take away your own bagel box, complete with smoked salmon, capers, lemon, cream cheese and chives.
Rise and Dawn Bakehouse is a bakery that takes just as much pride in the coffee as it does in the food, sharing the spot with Encounter Coffee, you can also choose from a huge variety of coffees from across the world including the voyager house blend, regional cauca from Colombia, and Nkurubuye from Rwanda.
