Located on the ground floor of the Burj Al Arab, this luxury institution comes straight from the brain of two Michelin-starred chef Andrea Migliaccio. Following the success of the famed Capri installation of Ristorante L’Olivo, this fine dining experience is now available in Dubai with the goal of sharing an ‘intense journey of authentic flavours.’
Luxury is the name of the game at Ristorante L’Olivo. After entering through a golden passage with shimmering metallic walls, guests are seated in the midst of coral-filled aquarium, offering a tantalising glimpse of the seafood-studded menu. The stunning subtly lit underwater dining room is completely immersive with interesting details such as rich gold hues and chairs shaped like shells. Every element of this space is carefully designed to point back to the luxurious aquatic menu.
Having spent the majority of his career in Italy’s Amalfi Coast and Bay of Naples, it follows that Migliaccio’s menu focuses on the flavours of the sea. Dishes are Migliaccio’s personal reinterpretations of regional classics, for example, taking Merluzzo Nero Black Cod and finishing it with coffee and liquorice, combining tagliolini with tuna fish tartare, bottarga, zucchini and lime, or serving blue lobster with saffron, raspberries and sweet and sour vegetables.
For the more adventurous among us, there is also a five-course tasting menu on offer, described as a ‘discovery of Andrea’s Kitchen.’ A selection of Ristorante L’Olivo’s finest dishes, this menu features scampi langoustine with green apple and caviar, lemon tagloilini, sea urchin risotto, gilthead fish, and hazelnuts and lemon.
Ristorante L’Olivo can certainly be described as a memorable dining expertise. The Italian culinary expertise and intimate aquatic setting are ideal for any special occasion and make the restaurant a top spot in Dubai’s fiercely competitive food scene.
