The epitome of luxury dining in Dubai, Shanghai Me offers a contemporary approach to fine Asian cuisine within a stunning art deco backdrop. Aiming to showcase the glamour and depth of Shanghai’s history, diners are transported to another world the moment they step inside its beautiful red and white dining room.
Indeed, the interiors are one of the main reasons punters flock to this fancy Chinese spot. Designed by renowned architect Michele Bonan, each area represents a different pocket of Asian tradition. The beautiful bamboo and banana tree filled terrace, for example, evokes the green jungles of Asia, while the luxurious lounge and exclusive private dining table pays tribute to the prohibited parties of the golden age. The main dining room is worthy of a place on your Instagram feed too, punctuated with red velvet sofa seating, high ceilings, giant flower-filled vases and art-deco patterned flooring.
What of the food? The menu showcases a fusion of intricate flavours and textures by putting a contemporary spin on classic Asian dishes. Enjoy an extensive selection of dim-sum, bao, Cantonese roast duck, sushi and sashimi. Signatures off the a la carte menu are just as luxurious as you'd imagine, from roast duck with foie gras and caviar to silver cod with yuzu miso sauce. Elsewhere, guests can indulge in things like spicy slow-cooked lamb ribs with peanuts, mapo tofu in a clay pot and soft-shell crab with green papaya salad.
Alongside the main menu is a Dim Sum Library offering which includes a selection of steamed and fried dumplings. From chicken xiao long, vegetable crystal bao and a chicken and truffle soy roll, to miso silver cod croquettes and sesame prawn toast.
Finally, its signature cocktail list is inspired by the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac, although all the classics are available too if you prefer.
