Despite living in its neighbour’s shadow Abu Dhabi sizes up to Dubai in terms of its food offering, with plenty of restaurants and hotels in the city delivering world-class food options. For all-in crowd-pleasing classics you could do worse than dining at Stills Restaurant & Bar in the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Yas Island.
This modern eatery is sleek in its design, with all black interiors extending through the floors to the furniture. This blank background makes the focal feature all the more powerful, with a centrepiece of hundreds of globe lightbulbs strung up in the centre of the room for a contemporary take on a traditional chandelier. Huge windows along one side of the dining room allow plenty of natural light in through the daytime while the glass panels offer stunning vistas of the city’s sparking lights beyond when evening comes.
On the menu you’ll find light dishes like beef carpaccio, pepper crusted seared tuna and salads when it comes to the starters, while the mains are a decidedly more robust bunch. The restaurant features a grill, which sends out various steaks and burgers. Steaks come with your choice of sauces and veggie garnishes, while all burgers come with coleslaw and fries. Elsewhere there are grilled prawn tacos and pasta dishes, as well as luxurious serves like a wagyu beef pie which is made up of 12-hour slow braised Wagyu brisket, rich Guinness gravy, onions and mushrooms, served with green onion mash, veal bacon and savoy cabbage.
Left room for dessert? You’ll be well rewarded with sweet treats like a hot chocolate cake with fresh berries, chocolate and caramel sauces and vanilla ice cream; sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and caramelised walnuts or a pina colada pannacotta.
At the bar you’ll find a huge range of drinks and snacks, if you’d prefer to pull up a stool and enjoy a few hours of cocktails and nibbles.
