Karam Beirut is a Lebanese restaurant with a number of locations across the UAE and the wider Middle East. This Dubai Mall site is one of the most popular, and features the group’s accessible, traditional Lebanese dishes in a smart, elegant restaurant.
Karam Beirut’s interiors blend traditional, typical architecture and modern materials creating a space that feels elegant but still timeless. Glass, aluminium and wood surfaces meet Arabesque architectural details, and the space has a homely feel thanks to warm lighting. Small crannies and niches with glass shelves show off a variety of ornaments and antiques too, which provide plenty of talking points.
Karam Beirut is so named because of the Karam family, who first founded this restaurant group in 1960. The family’s recipes form the foundation of the menu today, with these recipes being passed down between generations and maintained on Karam Beirut menus across all the sites. As such the menu is deeply authentic, and Karam Beirut serves a combination of warm and cold mezze starters, soup, chargrilled dishes and raw meat dishes like kibbeh nayeh - kibbeh made with raw lamb.
The menu encompasses all sorts of classic Lebanese dishes, from hummus, moutabal and tabbouleh to sambousek, makanek and spicy potatoes. There are seafood delights too, taking great advantage of the outstanding fresh seafood available along the Arabian Gulf, with dishes such as grilled jumbo shrimps and salmon fillet with steamed vegetables. Meanwhile, the charcoal grill sends out all manner of grill dishes, like shish taouk, lamb cutlets and whole boneless chicken.
Don’t forget dessert - an essential part of the Karam Beirut experience. Get stuck into baklava, exotic fruit platters, or halawet el jiban - a dessert of clotted cream wrapped in sweet cheese and semolina dough.
