Situated in the hub of the financial district DIFC, La Petite Maison brings a taste of the South of France to Dubai with a menu that showcases the vibrant ingredients of the Mediterranean and interiors inspired by the colourful Cote d’Azur. Stepping into this popular little venue will feel like a holiday to Europe – the restaurant is decked out with vibrant Picasso style impressionist artwork and the banquette seating and distressed paintwork create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The friendly team of staff are attired in bow ties and striped aprons – a nod to traditional French service style – and frequent live music performances add to the jovial ambience. The partitioned bar is large and inviting, with a team of talented bar staff that is always quick to show off their classic cocktail-making skills in theatrical style.
The extensive menu is designed to champion light and fresh ingredients, demonstrating classic French cooking techniques and authentic flavour combinations. The Hors d’oeuvres have a strong vegetable and seafood leaning with traditional salads aplenty. Sharing across the table is advised with dishes including tuna carpaccio, ratatouille with feta cheese, French beans with foie gras, Nicoise salad, salt cod croquettes, and of course snails in garlic butter. The main plats are just as traditional and wouldn’t be amiss in any French brasserie – whole grilled lobster with rouille; duck a l’orange; grilled veal chop; pan fried Dover sole with a grain mustard dressing; and grilled lamb cutlets with smoked aubergine.
The restaurant’s location has made it a popular lunch stop for office workers and a special menu has been devised for especially those looking for a meal within the hour. This menu features many of La Petite Maison’s signatures including sea bream fillet with braised beans, tomatoes and peppers; and half roasted baby chicken marinated in lemon.
Don’t leave without perusing the dessert list – the menu features many a French classic including French toast, apple tart and a decadent chocolate mousse with malt ice-cream.
