If you’re looking for somewhere to escape from Dubai to experience some latin culture, and indulge in authentic Mexican dishes, then Maya may just be the place for you (without ever having to leave the city). It's vibrant, it’s lively, and it’s won over the hearts of locals and visitors alike through its infectious energy. Indoors you’ll find a largely wooden focused decor throughout with hardwood walls, flooring and tables, as well as plants dotted throughout, and copious amounts of lanterns giving off a golden glow. Then outdoors, there is a large open terrace, with a bar, palm trees and cacti.
The menu is made up of bold, fresh ingredients, building on traditional flavours to create authentic dishes with a contemporary twist. Expect starters, like traditional guacamole, chipotle-braised short rib with cornbread and charred corn, and nachos, as well as small plates like sea bass or scallop ceviche. Don’t go without enjoying some of the tacos though, that are available with meat, seafood and vegan options. Think adobo marinated lamb with green salsa, tempura fish with habanero-cabbage slaw, avocado, beans and pico de Gallo.
For those with a sweet tooth, you’ll find churros with warm chocolate sauce, coconut sponge cake with pineapple and passionfruit gel, and a Basque cheesecake with cherry coulis.
Not one to shy away from a deal, Maya also offers a variety of specials throughout the week - including Taco Tuesday, that include a taco and Margarita combo, and a Mas Mas brunch that focuses as heavily on the entertainment as it does the food. Think multiple Mexican bites, refreshing cocktails, and flamboyantly dressed dancers parading between the tables.
