Found in a subterranean space at the One & Only Royal Mirage, Nina is a contemporary Indian restaurant that serves up colour and spice to its guests.
The vibrant setting will transport you to the palaces of India, with the opulent dining room decked out with silk drapes, burnt orange walls and intricately carved wooden furniture, while plump scatter cushions and flickering candles dotted around the space provide the finishing touches.
Aside from the seductive atmosphere, you can also expect to enjoy contemporary Indian cuisine, full of bold flavours and heady aromas. The menu is designed as a sharing concept which is served family-style (as traditionally done in India) and we’d recommend kicking things off with some of the savoury plates and salads. Choose from the likes of chicken tikka in royal cumin marinade with onion jam, and lamb Chapli kebab served with a beetroot and mint chutney, or keep it light with wild mushroom and coriander soup or an avocado, palm heart, lotus stem and green apple salad.
Those looking for something more substantial can choose from Nina’s wide range of biryani’s, curries and dishes from a tandoor grill. Luxury highlights include a lobster tandoori served with black garlic and Porcini mushroom risotto, while more traditional takes see Keralan prawn curry and a lamb biryani.
Indian cuisine naturally lends itself to vegetarianism, so meat-free diners will be glad to know that Nina can easily accommodate them. Veggie curries are available, while other vegetarian dishes include cottage cheese simmered in spinach sauce and Bombay potatoes with cauliflower and green peas.
Diners who drink alcohol will find plenty of choice at Nina, able to choose from the menu’s extensive wine list, which encompasses Europe and the rest of the world and includes several varieties which are available by the glass. If you’re not in the mood for wine, Champagne and appropriately exotic cocktails are available (Masala Martini and a Spicy Cosmo for example), while those avoiding alcohol altogether can still join in on the fun with a selection of teas, iced or organic.
