Popular Mediterranean restaurant SAL at Burj Al Arab has drawn crowds ever since it opened, combining Instagram-worthy dishes with the architectural marvels of the Burj Al Arab as well as the restaurant’s own impressive dining room. Just as the Burj Al Arab was designed to be at the cutting edge of contemporary architecture, so SAL is one of Dubai’s most beautiful restaurant interiors. Light, bright and spacious, the interior is a chic beachside restaurant in every way, with huge windows providing stunning views of the Arabian Gulf and the hotel’s saltwater infinity pool.
As well as tables in the main restaurant, SAL also has stunning panoramic cabanas available for private hire, with room for groups of up to six people, with easy access to the Burj Al Arab infinity pool and the restaurant.
The kitchen is headed up by Tuscan chef Marco Garfagnini, and he cooks a breezy menu of Iberian classics, with a focus on great fish and seafood. As well as oysters by the dozen, the menu has crispy calamari, fresh fish soup, clams a la marinera and octopus carpaccio, as well as offering whole market fish cooked over charcoal. A selection of pizzas and pasta dishes round out the menu, providing something for everyone - again there’s plenty of seafood here, with the likes of lobster linguine and seafood rice Cataplana. If seafood isn’t your thing, fret not - there’s also grilled steaks, braised lamb shoulder with boulangere potatoes, and grilled beef tagliata with French fries.
A dessert trolley finishes things up, offering crowd-pleasing sweets like cherry pie and pavlova. SAL also offers a separate menu of light bites and sharing plates to enjoy by the pool, and there’s a shisha menu as well to enjoy in the evenings.
