Set up in 2006, this South African steak house has been a stalwart of the Dubai restaurant scene for some years now. As one of the few places offering the cuisine of South Africa, The Grand Grill is a popular choice among both locals and tourists for its rich, meaty serves and warm hospitality.
As you might expect, the speciality here is of course the beef. The knowledgable team are on hand to talk you through the menu, discussing cooking preferences and serving styles with each diner. There are various international options when it comes to the meat, but all of it is well matured and of the utmost quality to ensure a delicious dining experience.
To really get into the swing of the place choose from the more traditional starters, like the booerewors (traditional South African beef sausages) served with polenta and Chakalaka sauce or the bunny chow which sees a hollowed out bread shell filled with a rich Durban chicken curry.
When it comes to mains it has to be steak, with a menu that covers rib eye, T-bone, fillet, rump and everything else in between. Order your chosen cut by weight before deciding on a selection of sauce and sides. Here you’ll have a real plethora of options open to you, with sides including creamy spinach, onion rings, plenty of steamed vegetable serves as well as the requisite mash, chips and wedges. Sauces range from spicy peri-peri and Madagascar pepper dips to more traditional creamy mushroom or hollandaise.
For those who don’t eat beef there are other choices, including a wide seafood offering that showcases tuna, salmon, prawns and monkfish as well as a small vegetarian selection of mac ’n’ cheese and a warming spinach dhal.
If you’ve brought the whole family you’ll be pleased to know there’s a children’s menu too, featuring all the favourites, from popcorn chicken to hot dogs.
